One-to-One CASC Tuition

Personalised teaching, realistic practice and supportive feedback to help you pass with confidence.

Preparing for the CASC can feel daunting, but with the right preparation, practice and feedback, it is absolutely an exam you can approach with confidence—and you don't have to do it alone.

My one-to-one sessions are designed around your individual goals, helping you develop the knowledge, communication skills and exam technique needed to perform at your best. Whether you're taking the CASC for the first time, re-sitting the exam, or adapting to UK psychiatric practice, we'll work together to create a revision plan that suits your needs.

I aim to create a friendly, supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning from them. Every session is designed to challenge you, build your confidence and leave you feeling better prepared than when you arrived.

More than just exam preparation

Passing the CASC is important, but my aim is to help you become a more confident psychiatrist—not simply a better exam candidate.

Many candidates tell me that our sessions improve not only their exam performance, but also their day-to-day communication, clinical reasoning and confidence at work.

Alongside CASC preparation, I'm always happy to discuss psychiatric training, working in the NHS and career development, particularly for doctors who are new to UK practice.

What we'll work on

Every session is different because every candidate is different. Depending on your goals, we might focus on:

  • Complete CASC stations under timed exam conditions

  • Communication skills and building rapport

  • Mental state examination

  • Risk assessment and management

  • Explaining diagnoses and treatment options

  • Capacity and consent

  • Cognitive assessment

  • Physical health in psychiatry

  • Breaking bad news and managing difficult conversations

  • Time management and exam technique

  • The communication style and subtle nuances expected in UK psychiatric practice

Every session finishes with a clear action plan, so you know exactly what to focus on before we meet again.

A personalised approach

If there are particular station types or topics you'd like to practise, we'll focus on those. Alternatively, if you'd prefer a more realistic exam experience, I can choose a range of surprise stations that reflect the unpredictability of the real CASC.

If you book a series of sessions, we'll create a personalised revision plan together. This helps ensure you cover the breadth of the syllabus while giving extra attention to the areas that will make the biggest difference to your performance.

Personalised coaching and feedback

The station is only part of the learning—the biggest improvements often happen during the discussion afterwards.

After every station, we'll explore:

  • What went well

  • Where you could gain additional marks

  • How an examiner is likely to interpret your performance

  • Alternative ways to approach challenging scenarios

  • Practical strategies to improve your communication and exam technique

  • Clear goals to focus on before your next session

My feedback is always honest, constructive and tailored to you. Rather than memorising scripts, we'll focus on understanding what each station is really assessing, helping you develop a consultation style that feels natural while meeting the expectations of the CASC.

My aim is for you to leave every session with greater confidence, a clearer understanding of what examiners are looking for, and practical skills you can apply immediately.

Is this right for you?

These sessions are ideal if you are:

  • Taking the CASC for the first time

  • Re-sitting the exam and looking for a fresh approach

  • An International Medical Graduate adapting to UK psychiatric practice

  • Looking for realistic exam practice with detailed personalised feedback

  • Wanting to improve your confidence before exam day

My teaching philosophy

I believe people learn best when they feel supported, challenged and encouraged to think for themselves.

Rather than memorising scripts or rehearsing the "perfect" answer, we'll explore the principles behind each station so that you can adapt confidently to whatever the exam presents. My aim isn't simply to help you pass the CASC—it's to help you become a confident psychiatrist.
